By Maine state law, individuals must complete a hunter education course prior to buying a basic hunting (archery) license, or be able to show a previously issued license of the same type.

| | | | | Kittery Trading Post is pleased to offer our Crossbow Hunter Safety course free to the general public. Crossbows can be used in the State of Maine for hunting deer and bear within the appropriate season. Anyone applying for a crossbow hunting license must submit proof of having completed both an archery hunting education course and a crossbow hunting course.
