A non-sanctioned Amateur Calling Contest styled after the rules of the National Wild Turkey Federation, MC-ed by Joe Judd, member of Quaker Boy Game Calls pro-staff and host of TV's "On the Ridge."For hunters and homeowners throughout New England, the increasingly robust numbers of wild turkey in our landscape mean that spring has a new sound – the clucks and purrs, putts and gobbles of turkeys feeding, traveling and mating. Join Kittery Trading Post on Sunday, March 30 for an open amateur, non-sanctioned NWTF style turkey calling contest hosted by outdoor TV personality and columnist Joe Judd. Also on hand will be guest judges: Dave Smith, Chris Parrish, Steve Hickoff and Nate Fenderson. This is an event to be enjoyed by the whole family, and by hunters and wildlife watchers alike. Prizes will be awarded to winners in three categories (Hens, Toms & Jakes – or “Women, Men and Youth” to the non-turkey speaking). There is no entry fee, and the first 50 entrants will receive free mouth calls. Pre-registration is encouraged, and kids of all ages are welcomed.
