Crossbows can be used in the State of Maine for hunting deer and bear within the appropriate season. Anyone applying for a crossbow hunting license must submit proof of having completed both an archery hunting education course and a crossbow hunting course. Anyone applying for a crossbow hunting license must submit proof of having completed both an archery hunting education course and a crossbow hunting course* (see Kittery Trading Post's Archery Hunter Safety Course beginning June 29). Kittery Trading Post is pleased to offer our Crossbow Hunter Safety course free to the general public. All of KTP's Hunter Safety courses are team taught. Led by John Peterson and John Klosenski, the team includes seasoned KTP staff instructors Dana Poole and Bob Cody. John and John also teach Hunter Safety Instructor courses and hold the #1 and #2 Hunter Safety (Crossbow) Instructor Trainer certificates for the state of Maine. History & Modern Crossbows
