Monday, November 20, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Kathryn Adler Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County 603-422-8240, kadler@communitycampus.org The Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County announced today that Kittery Trading Post will support the Portsmouth based Center to help children going through a difficult time. Kittery Trading Post vendors that supply the store with many stuffed and plush toys will be donating over 300 items to the Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County (CACRC). Plush toy suppliers Wishpets, Mary Meyer, Maine Scene and Coastal Colour have graciously donated items that will go directly to children receiving services at the CACRC. The Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County provides a safe environment for the evaluation of child abuse and exploitation and helps coordinate services to child victims and their non-offending family members. The CACRC is a joint effort between law enforcement, the Rockingham County Attorney" Office, Division of Children, Youth and Families and local medical and mental heath professionals. When Julie-Lynn Belon, Events Manager at Kittery Trading Post, was made aware that the CACRC was in need of stuffed and plush toys to give to help comfort children following what can be an emotionally charged investigative interview, she had no hesitation calling Kittery Trading Post suppliers to request donated plush toy items to the CACRC. "I knew all I had to do was ask Wishpets, Mary Meyer, Maine Scene and Coastal Colour to help with a donation; little did I know that each vendor would offer to donate over 100 items. I am truly touched by the generosity, support and kindness of Wishpets, Mary Meyer, Maine Scene and Coastal Colour. Kittery Trading Post and our suppliers are strengthening the community by coming together to help kids in need," continued Belon. On December 13 at 12:00 noon, a special presentation of the toys will be held at the Portsmouth Community Campus, home to the CACRC. "Kittery Trading Post" generosity will touch many children" lives in our community. Children who come to the Child Advocacy Center are very often going through the most difficult time in their lives and being able to end their visit on a positive note with a new furry friend makes the transition for them that much easier. We are incredibly grateful to Kittery Trading Post and their suppliers for this donation" said CACRC Executive Director Kate Adler.
